Three generations family

Why Caresultants should be part of
your family's plan

Making sure that your parents or loved ones get the most out of their later years takes planning. And it may not include a retirement community or an assisted living facility – at least, not until it’s absolutely necessary. For adults who want to stay active as long as possible and their families who want to support that goal, Caresultants has the skills, resources, and know-how to enable your loved ones to continue to live their best life for as long as possible, no matter where or how they want to live it.

  • You’re here, and they’re there. What do you do when something happens? Do they have to move? What if they don’t want to? Do you have to move? What about your own family?

  • There are a million stories we can gin up about this (and we should). There are three siblings. One lives across the country, and she has two preschool kids. Another has work commitments. And the third isn’t very responsible. What do you do? For most clients, the answer is that they muddle through. Bad answer. With Caresultants, we have a plan that includes wellness visits, logistics management, regular video calls, etc.

  • You want your parents to keep doing as much as they can, for as long as they can, as safely as they can. But you don’t have the time to manage them. You don’t know that they go to the opera, or how they get there. You don’t know that your father can’t see at night when driving, but he won’t admit it. You don’t know that mom is flushing food down the toilet. They’re your parents, and they took care of you – so you assume that they’re competent. But you know that’s a bad assumption.

  • How do you get them to accommodate the realities of aging without triggering objections. (For example, taking away the keys.) It isn’t hard to list all the problems of early transition; we should. These are decisions that most families avoid, until it gets so bad, and maybe tragic. Caresultants is, in a sense “in loco parentis” in reverse.

  • Neglect is a huge problem. It’s not on purpose, but it’s harmful nonetheless. Caresultants is the cure for neglect.

  • And then when and if needed... transition to a facility with as little burden on the family as possible.
